Key Verse:  (James 5:16)  “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

“Prayer is the foundation of a healthy life, linking your mind, body, and spirit to God.  Prayer is two-way communication with our Creator, the God of the universe.  There’s power in prayer.  ‘The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well’ (James 5:15)”

Praying for a healthy lifestyle:  (Germaine Copeland’s prayer)—“Lord, thank You for declaring Your plans for me—plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future.  I choose to renew my mind to Your plans for a healthy lifestyle…My body is for the Lord.  So here is what I want to do with Your help, Father God.  I choose to take my everyday, ordinary life—my sleeping, eating going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before You as an offering.  Embracing what You do for me is the best I can do for You.”

Bill Hybels, in his book Too Busy Not to Pray, tells us:   "In every one of us there is the need to relate to something or someone greater than ourselves. A power is desired that can impart vision, meaning, and purpose to life and provide comfort in times of need.

Prayer provides that relationship with God and imparts the power to find our purpose in life.  Prayer is the foundation of a healthy life, linking your mind, body, and spirit to God; it is two-way communication with our Creator who built us for relationships with one another and with Him.  Prayer keeps us plugged in to God and is all about relationship with God, not religion.

In living a healthy, purpose-filled life, prayer connects the entirety of who we are in mind, body, and spirit to God and has the potential for making us whole.   However, prayer time does not always come naturally; often, it takes intentional, plotted time with God—a prayer pattern and fitness routine, if you will."
