Chef Carol Birch : Biography
Chef Carol Birch was raised on a farm in rural South Africa, surrounded by the rhythms of the seasons, her first culinary experience was in her mother’s kitchen. She went on to study the arts, and became involved in the fashion industry, all the while being known for her fabulous Wednesday night diner parties.
Cooking has always been a passion for Carol, but it was not until she sailed to the Caribbean, and began cooking onboard mega-yachts, that it her skills where professionally put to the test.
Carol became a professional chef, and studied the art of French boulangerie, patisserie and cuisine at the ‘Ecole des Arts Culinaires’ in Lyon, France, as well as other short courses to gain inspiration and technique.
While sailing the blue seas and catering to an elite, high profile clientele, Carol being up to date with all the latest diets and food trends, began to make the powerful connection between good health and correct nutrition.
Having seen a vast improvement in her own health and well being through correct eating and Garden of Life products, Carol returned to South Africa and established her company Pure Living, exclusively distributing the products in her country, and assisting individuals in the health journey.
Carol’s passion for healthy food is influenced by global culinary trends experienced on her travels. She believes cooking is about selecting the best, organic seasonal ingredients and making them shine.
About the Raw Chef
Mandilyn Canistelle traveled around the United States and abroad as a professional dancer. She settled down in the mid west where she opened and operated a dance school. Priority on health through nutrition was also taught to students and their parents to maximize optimal energy for their active lifestyles.
Mandy became a full-time homemaker, raising her five children. It was during this time of her life where Mandy saw a tremendous need to create fun, healthy meals for her family. Allergies, sickness, loss of energy, and more serious illnesses concerned many of Mandy's friends and family. This led to more research on the effects food has on the body.
Today, Mandy is passionate about sharing healthful, beautiful, and delicious raw cuisine from the extensive study and experiences she has encountered. Mandy is a graduate of Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in California where she received her certification as a Raw Food Chef and Instructor. Mandy now teaches raw culinary arts classes in Oklahoma and throughout the states. She has continued her education and catered events with talented chefs throughout the world, including Chad Sarno, Pete Cervoni, and Lisa Soto.
Currently, Mandy can be seen on Jordan Rubin’s television series in a segment called, “Pefect Snack”, where she shares raw recipes for quick snacks on-the-go. This has led to the development of her booklet titled, Raw Fast Food.
